LOWELL - Yvette R. (Thibault) Iby, age 92, a longtime resident of the Centralville section of Lowell passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Wendell G. Iby, to whom she was married for 71 years prior to his passing on May 7, 2024.
She was born in Lowell on September 23, 1931, and was a daughter of the late Joseph and Cecill (Ellie) Thibault. She received her education in Lowell schools and attended St. Louis Grammar School.
Prior to her retirement, Yvette was employed for many years as a bookkeep by Stuart’s Department Store in Lowell. Earlier in her career she was employed by Union National Bank and the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, both in Lowell.
Later in life, she volunteered for many years at the Robinson School in Lowell.
Yvette was a communicant of St. Francis Church in Dracut and a former communicant of St. Michael Church in Lowell, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters.
She enjoyed being out in nature, taking walks and playing tennis with Wendell and spending time with her many friends at her book club. She also enjoyed spending time at her condo in Hampton Beach, NH for 17 years. Her greatest joy however, was spending time in the company of her loving family, especially her adoring grandchildren and attending all of their events.
Yvette will be remembered by her family as a kind and loving woman, who was always there to lend a hand when needed.
She leaves four children and their spouses, David Iby and his wife Marsha, Rich Iby and his wife Nancy Beecy, Lynda Dionne and her husband Michael and Michael Iby; seven grandchildren, David Iby and his wife Trish, Alex Iby and his significant other Rebecca Niland, Brooke Lepke and her husband Erik, Paige Mahoney and her husband Tommy, Hannah Dionne, Chris Iby and his wife Cara, Amanda Iby and her fiancé Dave Quinn; ten great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jeannette Iby of Dracut; and a niece, Terry Riviezzo of Exeter, NH.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Yvette’s Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Sunday, July 28th from 2:00pm until 5:00pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 29th at 10:00am at St. Francis Church in Dracut. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Greater Lowell YMCA, 35 YMCA Drive, Lowell, MA 01852.
