William G. White, a Dracut resident and beloved husband of the late Margaret "Peggy" (Doyle) White, with whom he was married for 49 years at the time of her death in 2010, passed away on Tuesday May 25, 2021 surrounded by his family. He celebrated his 92nd birthday with them on Monday.
Born in Lynn on May 24, 1929, he was the son of the late Steven White and Eva (Jackson) Bartlett.
Bill entered the US Navy following high school, proudly serving his country for 30 years during WWII, Korea and Vietnam; retiring in 1976 with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Following his military retirement, Bill then went on to continue his career with the former Lowell Gas Company; where he served as a machinist and pipe fitter for over 25 years.
Bill enjoyed fishing, gardening, following all of the Boston sports teams and especially attending his grandkids school events. He was an active member of the Fleet Reserve. There were many charitable organizations that were near and dear to Bill. The USO, Dracut Food Pantry, Salvation Army and the St. Labre Indian School.
Survivors include his three children and their spouses, Dr. Kathleen White and Jennifer Schoenstadt of Waltham, William and Donna White, Geraldine and Russell Carney all of Dracut; four grandchildren Danielle White and her husband Kyle Bechtelheimer of Miami, Fl, Kristen White of London England, Meghan Carney, Kevin Carney both of Dracut; his sister Barbara Burke of Swampscott and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his younger sister Frances Messina.
Relatives and friends are invited to Bill's Life Celebration at the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home 327 Hildreth Street from 9:00 until 10:30 AM on Friday June 4th. Committal prayers will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Tewksbury at 11:00 AM.
