William C. Koczera

December 11, 1926 — January 25, 2022

William Koczera, beloved husband of the late Pauline M. (O'Malley) Koczera passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. He was 95.

Born on December 11, 1926 he was the youngest child of Joseph and Karolina (Gancacz) Koczera.William was educated in Lowell and played football for Lowell High School. Upon graduation William enlisted in the US Navy in March 1945 and was a WWII Veteran. He later reenlisted and served for 20 years, retiring in 1975. During his service in the US Navy William served aboard the USS Sterope AK-96, USS PCE-870, USS ATR-62 and was also stationed at the Armed Forces Reserve Center in Lawrence, and the Reserve Training Center in Salem. While serving, he received four Navy Good Conduct Medals, Navy Occupation Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, China Service Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal.

William was a lifelong communicant of St. Casimir Parish in Lowell where he was a member of their Men's Society. He was also a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Boston Branch #3, the Navy Memorial Foundation and AARP. William enjoyed all New England sports and horse racing at the former Rockingham Park. he looked forward to his visits to the Lowell Senior Center. William cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his two daughters, Frances Cavossa and her husband Dave of Lowell and Gloria McManus of Pelham, NH; his son, Edwin Koczera and his wife Patricia of Dracut; nine grandchildren, Nicole Fagone and her husband Joseph, David Cavossa and his wife Ashley, Kelly McManus and her wife Laurie, Kimberly LaBranche and her husband Thomas, Kristin Daly and her husband William, Kyle McManus and his wife Lanna, Jamie McNeil and her husband Brian, Jaclyn Laliberte and her husband Michael, and Jonathan Koczera; nineteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father-in-law of the late James L. McManus and brother of the late Rudolph, Olga, Adolpha, Olga andEdwin


Relatives and friends are invited to William's Life Celebration at the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth Street from 3 until 7 PM on Sunday. His Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM in St. Casimir's Parish, 268 Lakeview Ave. Lowell. Spring Burial will be in St. Casimir Cemetery, Pelham, NH.
