William F. "Bill" Keefe, 84, of Dracut, MA and Naples, FL, died peacefully on Saturday October 25, 2014 following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Elaine M. (McArthur) Keefe who passed away on October 11, 2014.
Born in Lowell on December 8, 1929, he was a son of the late John J. and Rose (Fica) Keefe.
In 1951, Bill joined the United States Air force and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1955.
Bill was a member of the first graduating class of the University of Lowell, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. He went on to have a distinguished thirty-two year career as a Lowell Police Officer. Bill was a member and a past vice president of the Lowell Police Patrolmen's Association. He was a former treasurer of the Lowell Police Relief Association. Bill was a former U-Lowell hockey ticket manager and was one of the founding members of the Dracut Pop Warner Boosters Organization. An avid golfer, Bill was a lifetime member at the Mount Pleasant Country Club in Lowell. He was a die-hard New York Yankees fan and never missed a New England Patriots game.
Bill is survived by his children Susan R. Keefe of Dracut, William F. Keefe, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl-Anne of Attleboro, MA, Brian J. Keefe and his wife, Paula of Westford, MA; his grandchildren, Adam and Hannah Keefe of Westford; his brothers and sister, Raymond Keefe and his wife, Maureen of Lowell, MA, Robert Keefe and his wife, Winifred of York Beach, ME, Rosemary McMahon of Lowell, MA and Francis X. Keefe of Tyngsboro, MA; a brother-in-law, James McArthur of Gilford, NH; three sisters-in-law, Cynthia Keefe of Lowell, MA, Ann Russell of Manchester, NH and Cynthia McArthur of Reading, MA; many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jack, Thomas and Joseph Keefe.
