William J. "Jimmy" Hoare

November 4, 1936 — July 15, 2018

SALISBURY - William J. "Jimmy" Hoare, III, 81, a Salisbury resident for the last several years, but a long time resident of Tyngsboro and Dunstable, passed away peacefully at a local healthcare facility following a period of declining health.
He was the beloved husband of Shirley G. (Temple) Hoare, to whom he was married for 57 years.
Born in Lowell on November 4, 1936, he was the only child of Ruth K. (Morse) Hoare and William J. Hoare, Jr.
Jim was a graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1954. Following High School he enlisted with the United States Army and served a tour in Korea during peacetime.
Following his military obligation Jim joined his father in the family business, Hoare's Fish Markets in Lowell. In 1976 he and his wife Shirley took over operations of W.J. Hoare Seafood Restaurant on Gorham Street and ran it until their retirement in 1987.
In his younger years, Jim was a member of the Lowell Motor Boat Club and the Tyngsboro Planning Board.
Jim enjoyed time away at his second home in Orford, NH, where he liked to hunt, fish and hang out with the locals. For the last several years, Jim and Shirley spent their winters in Daytona Beach, FL.
Jim and Shirley always cherished time spent with their children and their spouses, but especially time spent with their seven grandchildren, whom they are very proud of.
In addition to his wife Shirley, he leaves four children, Dennis J. Hoare-Travaglini and his husband Michael Travaglini of Boston, Robert W. Hoare and his wife Bonnie (Silk) of Dunstable, Marianne L. McKenna and her husband Jay of Lowell and Kimberly R. Dahlberg and her husband Christopher of Dunstable; 7 grandchildren, Brittney and Robert Hoare of Dunstable, Walter, Ellen and Patrick McKenna of Lowell and Madison and Christopher Dahlberg of Dunstable. He also leaves an aunt, Virginia "Ginny" Edwards of Tyngsboro, as well as several cousins.
He was the father of the late Deborah J. Hoare.
HOARE - Relatives and friends are invited to Jim's Life Celebration on Thursday from 4 until 8 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street. His Funeral Service will be celebrated on Friday morning at 10 AM in the Dunstable Evangelical Congregational Church, 518 Main Street, Dunstable. At the request of Jim's family, PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's name may be made to: Deborah J. Hoare Scholarship Fund, payable to Greater Lowell Technical High School, 250 Pawtucket Blvd., Tyngsboro, MA 01879 or to Lowell General Hospital Team Walk for Cancer, 295 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA 01854.
