LOWELL - William F. Coan, Sr., age 84, a resident of the Centralville neighborhood of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 5th, following a courageous battle with heart issues. He was surrounded by his loving wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Born in Lowell on October 26, 1933 he was the only son of the late Mary C. (Hovey) Coan and Raymond E. Coan.
At a very young age, he worked along side his father at Lorum Fiber Co., was self employed at "Coan's Variety", and also worked at Computer Vision and Unico Services from which he retired.
William was a member of the VFW Post 662, and the American Legion for plus 35 years. William was 19 when he received his draft letter from the United States Air Force. He entered the Service during the Korean War on July 13,1953 for a four year term, receiving Airman of the year and a rank of Airman, 1st Class.
William is survived by his wife Barbara of 60 years, his children and spouses, Cheryl and David Santos, Christine and Arthur Bubanas, William Jr. and Carol Coan, Cynthia and Michael Noon, Raymond Coan, Christy and Eddie Tuff; his grandchildren, Jose', Kerri, Kevin, Timothy, David, Stephanie, Raymond Jr., Meghan, Woody and Eileen; his great grandchildren; Bryant, Amanda, Shawnda, Nanice, Jayda, Kingsten William, Robert, Courtney, Brooklynn, Mariah, Makayla, Raymond III, Dequawn and Marquise, Jayden, Zoey and Laynie; his siblings, Ellen and Ralph Dionne, Catherine and Marcel Brule and Paula and Donald Labbe; also many nieces and nephews. He also leaves long time friends, Catherine and Eddie Bergeron. He was the Godfather of the late Theresa Bergeron.
