William J. Blanchard

William J. Blanchard, a Lowell resident and beloved husband of Catherine M. (Morey) Blanchard, died on Monday, July 25, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was 70.

Bill was Born in Lowell on August 3, 1945, a son of the late John and Phyllis (Gray) Blanchard, and stepson of the late Frank Tierney.


A veteran of the Vietnam war, Bill served in the US Air Force. He was employed as a truck driver for the former Prince Spaghetti Company, retiring after 18 years of service.

Bill was a classic car enthusiast, who also appreciated motorcycles. He even built his own bike.

A kind and gentle man, Bill cherished his family. He loved going to his grandchildren's events and activities. He looked forward to taking them to shows, such as Disney on Ice and the Nutcracker. He loved to travel, especially in his motor home with his sons. He also took a 30 day trip across the country to California.
His family will remember his modesty and patience. They will never forget his sense of humor.

Surviving him besides his wife of 24 years are his sons and daughters in law, Scott and Mary Blanchard of Rockport, John and Brenda Blanchard of Dracut, Todd Blanchard of Pelham; his stepsons, Michael and Stacy Wiroll, and Mark Wiroll all of Dracut; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters in law and brothers in law, Donna Blanchard of Lowell, Nancy Tierney of Lowell, Elaine and Paul Davis, Jeff Morey all of Billerica; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert Blanchard and Jack Tierney.
