Wilfrid Deschenes

June 26, 1935 — January 16, 2014

Wilfrid Deschenes, Jr., a lifelong resident of Lowell passed away in January, after a long and courageous struggle with cancer. Will accepted his eleven year battle with grace and dignity and faced every challenge with faith and perseverance. He was the son of the late Wilfrid Deschenes, Sr. and Sybille (Joly) Deschenes. He attended St. Joseph High School graduating in 1955 and went on to serve with the US Air Force in Korea, Japan and Turkey.
He met and married his wife Blanche (Hatcher) Deschenes in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and they celebrated fifty four years of marriage together. He was the father of Denise Klier RN of Methuen and husband Kenneth, Judith Deschenes of Dracut and wife Jeanne Roy, Kevin Deschenes of Chelmsford and Wilfrid Deschenes III and wife Julie. He was the loving grandfather of Karleen and Klarissa Klier of Methuen, both students at Presentation of Mary Academy and Emma Deschenes.
Will had retired from Sanders Associates where he worked for many years, and in retirement he worked at the IRS in Andover and BJ's warehouse in Nashua. He will be remembered as a social man striking up conversation with anyone he met. He was a professional "DYI"er before it became popular, and could do any home improvement as seen in the work he did in his home over 50 years. During his illness, he became an avid watcher of the History channel. His family remembers him with much love as a family man who would do anything in his power for his loving wife, children and granddaughters.
