Wilfred "Willy" Letendre age 90 of Dracut, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, with his loving family by his side. He was the widower of the late Betty (Calloway) Letendre and the beloved husband of Rita (Murray) (Conlon) Letendre, to whom he was married for 34 years.
Born in Lowell on April 13, 1921, he was a son of the late Peter and Hedwidge (Lanseigne) Letendre.
An Army veteran of World War II, Willy worked at both Honeywell and the Bedford VA Hospital following his service. He was the past Commander and Life Member of the VFW, Walker Roger's Post 662 in Lowell, a member of the Dracut American Legion, Post 315 and the DAV, Chapter 25. Many may remember he called out the bingo numbers for years at the VFW. He was a member of St. Francis Church in Dracut, an active member of the Lowell Senior Center for many years and also involved in LARC (Lowell Association of Retarded Citizens).
He leaves behind a large family including his daughters Nocha Lavasseur of Lakeland, Florida and Diane and her husband Robert "Bob" Giroux of Dracut and his son Paul and his wife Denise Letendre of Lowell. He also had 6 stepchildren, including William H. Conlon III and his wife Lyn, Kathleen Grisley and her husband Ken, Patricia Conlon, Maureen Conlon, Kevin Conlon and his wife Erin and Eileen Conlon and her husband Chris Hicks.
He will be sorely missed by his siblings including his 2 brothers Gerard "Jerry" and Armand, along with his wife Jeanette Letendre, his sisters Irene Carbonneau and Yvonne McKinnon.
Willy was blessed with 31 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He also had many nieces, nephews and friends who will all miss him.
He was predeceased by his son-in-law Donald Lavasseur, his sister Exilia, his sister-in-law Irene Letendre, his brother-in-laws Fred Carbonneau and Rudolph McKinnon.
