Walter F. Campbell, 82, a long time resident of Dracut, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2016, following a period of declining health, at a local health care facility with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Joanne M. (Blanchette) Campbell with whom he celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on September 7, 2015.
Born in Lowell on January 15, 1934, he was a son of the late Joseph and Margaret (McNamara) Campbell.
Wally attended Dracut schools and was a graduate of Dracut High School.
Prior to his retirement following 42 years of service, he was employed by the Raytheon Corporation, Andover Facility.
Wally was active in the Dracut community, serving as a call fireman and auxiliary police officer. A Knight for over 50 years, he was a Third Degree member of the Dracut Knights of Columbus, Council 4225 and Fourth Degree member of the Lowell Knights of Columbus, Council 87. He was also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 19.
Wally and Joanne enjoyed travelling with their motor home visiting locations up and down the East Coast. They also enjoyed winters in Florida, spending time in North Miami Beach and Ft. Pierce.
One of Wally's hobbies was plumbing and he'd be sure to help out any friend in need who had a problem, especially with wells and pumps and even a leaky faucet.
His greatest love was his family and friends, especially time spent with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Joanne he leaves three children, Walter F. Campbell, Jr. and his wife Donna (Fadden) of Dracut and Killington, VT, Nancy J. Campbell and Kelly A. Bradley and her husband Michael, all of Dracut; six siblings, Mary Graham and her husband Francis, Katherine Romanowski and her husband Michael, all of Dracut, James Campbell and his wife Anita of Lowell, Margaret Melanson, Patricia Boumil and her husband John, all of Dracut, and Robert Campbell and his wife Linda of Andover; sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Bernadette Campbell of Salem, NH, Elaine and Roland Rondeau and Jacqueline Bergeron, all of Dracut; five grandchildren, Nicholas and Joshua Coupal, Collin Campbell, Madison and Jack Bradley; many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was a brother of the late Joseph and John Campbell.
