Virginia Jean (Zannoni) Burk, 93, a long-time resident of both Dracut and later of St. Pete Beach, FL died peacefully, Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at her daughter’s home surrounded by family. She was the beloved wife to the late Joseph V. Burk, until his passing in 1980.
She was born in Lowell on December 29, 1928, and was a daughter of the late Theresa (Zammarchi) and Egisto Zannoni. She received her education in Dracut and was a graduate of Dracut High School. She worked many years as a stenographer.
Virginia was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church in Lowell and was the church vocalist for many years. She was also the singer with the Trilogy Band. Since moving down to St. Pete Beach she enjoyed attending and singing in the chorus of St. John Vianney Church.
She was a competitive ballroom dancer and enjoyed dancing her entire life. In her younger years she enjoyed snow skiing and water skiing at the family camp on Highland Lake, NH. Virginia was a beach lover and an avid Boston sports fan.
Virginia is survived and will be deeply missed by her children, Jo Ann (Burk) Loeliger and her husband William N. Loeliger, MD of Maryland and Joseph D. Burk and his wife Jeanette L. Flannery of Acton, MA; her four grandchildren, Erin M. Loeliger MD, PhD, Kelsey B. Loeliger MD, PhD, Burk W. Loeliger MD and Daniel J. Burk; her sister-in-law, Carol Zannoni of Pelham, NH; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her son, David J. Burk and her six siblings, Anita Normandin, Lena Faticanti, Edward Zannoni, Paul Zannoni, Nora Kane and Egisto “Terry” Zannoni.
Relatives and friends are invited to Virginia’s Life Celebration on Sunday, October 30, 2022 from 3 until 6 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM in St. Michael’s Church, Lowell. Burial to follow in Richardson Cemetery, Dracut. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Virginia’s memory to Merrimack Valley Food Bank, Inc., 735 Broadway Street, Lowell, MA 01854.
