Cambridge – Virginia Anna (Robards) (Collins) Schwenn, 88, a resident of Cambridge, died Monday, August, 15, 2011 at the Neville Center. She was the loving wife of the late Carl Schwenn and James Collins.
Born in Braintree on December 28, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Myrl and Honora (Moran) Robards.
For many years she had resided in Tewksbury where she raised her children and following retirement, she relocated to Lakeland, FL.
During World War II, Virginia was one of the 1st women to work as a conductor for the Massachusetts Transit Authority working the Green Line in Boston having the Cleveland Circle route.
She was retired from Wang Labs of Lowell where she worked for over 20 years.
She is survived by a her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Debora (Reichstein) Collins of Lowell; her daughter, Cathy A. Collins of Medford; her granddaughter and her husband, Fallon and Matthew Sigman of Lowell; her great granddaughter, Olivia Sigman of Lowell; her brother, Robert Robards of MA; her brother-in-law, Edward Hannon of ME; several nieces and nephews. She was a sister of the late Myrl “Buddy” Robards of MI, Mary Zemann of CA and Doris Hannon of ME.
