LOWELL - Virginia L. MacLean, 96, a resident of the Belvidere neighborhood, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2016, at the Northwood Healthcare Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Duncan H. MacLean, Sr.
Born in Lynn, on January 11, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Herbert Wentworth and the late Gladys (Morine) Coughlin. As a young girl, she moved to Lowell with her mother and her adored stepfather, the late Ralph Coughlin.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed for many years by the Cherry and Webb Clothing Store, formally located on Merrimack Street in downtown Lowell.
She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church.
Virginia enjoyed knitting, crocheting and painting.
Virginia's family would like to thank the staff at the Northwood Healthcare Center for the compassionate care given to her during her stay there.
She is survived by her children, Donna Sherman, Dennis Sellers, and Duncan H. MacLean, Jr. and his wife Charlene (Rawnsley), all of Lowell; a sister, Jean McPadden of AL; five grandchildren, Daniel and Ian MacLean, Joseph, Pamela and Timothy Sherman, also many nieces and nephews. She was also a sister of the late Dorothy N. McMahon.
