Veronica L. “Ronnie” (Riley) Burns, age 96, a longtime resident of Danville, NH and formerly of Dracut, died Tuesday, October 1, 2024. She was the beloved wife of 70 years to the late Francis W. Burns, until his passing in 2021.
She was born in Lowell on July 4, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Madeline (Quinlan) and William Riley. She received her education in Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School. She worked in the garment industry for many years prior to retiring from Sylvania in Waltham.
Ronnie enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, going for walks, rides along the coast and stopping for an ice cream. She looked forward to her monthly outing with the ladies’ lunch bunch. She also had many close friends in her Iron Wheel community. Her greatest joy was the time spent at family gatherings with her loving family.
She is survived by her three sons, William Burns and his wife Melissa of Sanford, ME, Robert Burns of Dracut, Kenneth Burns of Fremont, NH; Becky Burns of East Kingston, NH; her nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her two great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Thomas Riley of Dracut and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ronnie’s Life Celebration on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 9 until 10:30 AM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell followed by her Funeral Mass at 11 AM at St. Michael Church and burial at St. Patrick Cemetery.
