Thomas G. Tarmey, a resident of the Centralville section of Lowell died Sunday August 9, 2009, following an extended illness. He was 63.
Born in Lowell on April 18, 1946, he was a son of the late Edmund "Deac" and Catharine (Gallagher) Tarmey.
Tom was a salesman in men's clothing. He was employed for many years at Filene's Basement in Boston, where he was named salesman of the year three times. He later worked at Anderson Little in Lowell and Methuen until illness forced his retirement.
Tom enjoyed gardening and endless collectables. He loved flowers and was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan. He treasured the sea shore and spending summers in Maine with the Brady and Greenwood families, but most of all he cherished spending time and traveling with his family.
Survivors include three brothers and a sister in law, Edmund F. "Ned" Tarmey of Lowell, William J. Tarmey of Pelham, NH, Leonard J. and Katherine A. (Wojtas) Tarmey of Dracut; three nephews Jeffery Tarmey and his wife Jennifer Cross of Hudson, NH, Brian Tarmey and his wife Beverly of Londonderry, NH, Kevin E. Tarmey of Pelham, NH; two nieces, Kara A. Russo and her husband James of Epping, NH, Erin Q. Tarmey and her fianc� Greg Benoit of Webster; three grandnephews and grandnieces; many cousins and good friends including Fred Greenwood, who visited Tom everyday for the past three months during his illness.
