LOWELL - Thomas M. Scanlan, 81, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died Saturday, August 7, 2004 in Lowell following a brief illness.
He was born in Lowell a son of the late Thomas A. and Mary J. (Molloy) Scanlan.
He graduated from St. Michael Grammar School and Lowell High School. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Michael Church.
He was a World War II Veteran having served with the United States Navy as a radio operator on a destroyer in the Pacific Ocean.
He was employed as a tax examiner for the Internal Revenue Service in Andover, MA retiring in 1984.
He is survived by a brother, Richard Scanlan of Lowell; a sister, Theresa Olsen of Lowell; six nephews, Glenn Olsen of Dracut, Warren Kerrigan and his wife Lorrie of Shirley, Brian Kerrigan of Dracut, Jay Kerrigan and his wife Lorie of Litchfield, NH, Joseph Nugent of Clinton and Mark Nugent of Leominster; a niece, Lynne Slattery and her husband Joseph of Pelham, NH; a brother-in-law, Warren Kerrigan of Bedford; also many grandnieces, grandnephews. He was the brother of the late John, William and Joseph Scanlan, and Dorothy Kerrigan.
