LOWELL – Thomas M. Conaton, 85, a lifelong resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, died Wednesday morning, December 8, 2010 at a local nursing home. He was the beloved husband of Lucille A. (Guilmette) Conaton with whom he was married for 49 years.
Born in Lowell on December 21, 1924, he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Mary Louise (Nugent) Conaton.
Mr. Conaton was a graduate of St. Michael Parochial School, Lowell High School and Lowell Commercial College.
Tom was an Army Veteran of World War II serving in the Northern France, European Theater. Following his Honorable Discharge in 1946 he joined the Navy Reserves for an enlistment.
He was a lifelong communicant of St. Michael Church and was a Fourth Degree Member of the Lowell Knights of Columbus, Bishop Delaney Council.
Prior to his retirement, Tom was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as an accountant.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons and their wives, Thomas and Elizabeth Conaton of Bedford, NH, William and Trisha Conaton of Windham, NH and John and Nicole Conaton of North Andover; two daughters and their husbands, Marie and John Baribeault of Methuen and Kathleen and Joseph LaRoche of Bedford, NH; eleven grandchildren, Thomas and Joseph Conaton of Bedford, NH, William, Abigail and Benjamin Conaton of Windham, NH, Emily and Jack Conaton of North Andover, Allyson and Andrew Baribeault of Methuen and Emma and Nicholas LaRoche of Bedford, NH; also several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary Crowley, Theresa Stefan and Louise Conaton.
