Thomas B. Burns

Lowell

Thomas B. Burns, age 93, a longtime resident of Lowell died Sunday, April 28, 2024 at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill following a brief illness.  He was the beloved husband of the late Doris A. (Delisle) Burns, to whom he was married for 61 years prior to her death in 2020.  

He was born in Lowell on October 10, 1930, and was a son of the late Thomas F. and Nancy L. (Levy) Burns.  He received his education in Lowell schools.  

Thomas served his country as a sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War.  

Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years as an electrician at the E.N. Rogers VA Hospital in Bedford.  

Thomas was a member and past president of the Centralville Social Club in Lowell and a member of the Disabled American Veterans, E.N. Rogers Post and the VFW, Walker-Rogers Post 662. 

He enjoyed spending time at The Club and Camping at Wyman’s Beach and Whispering Pines. But most of all he loved his time with family and friends and appreciated the value each brought to his life. 

Thomas is survived by his two daughters, Sylvia A. Lake and her husband Michael of Litchfield, NH and Brenda B. Weser and her husband Steven of Billerica; three sons, Thomas F. Burns and his wife Melissa of Casco, ME, Kevin R. Burns and his wife Carol of Tyngsboro and David W. Burns and his wife Kelliann of Newton, NH; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  

He was also the grandfather of the late Kristy A. Burns and Corey M. Lake and the brother of the late Francis Burns, Frederick Burns, Rudolph Burns and Gerard Burns.    

It being his wish, services will be private.  Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to Lowell Parks & Conservation Trust, 660 Suffolk St # 335, Lowell, MA 01854.
