Thomas A. Basdanes, 91, a lifelong Lowell resident died Thursday December 9, 2010 at a local nursing facility. Thomas was the beloved husband of Georgia (Limperis) Basdanes of Lowell with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage on October 24, 2010.
Born in Lowell on March 15, 1919, he was a son of Arthur and Bessie (Batsiopoulos) Basdanes.
Tom was employed for many years as a shoe worker at many local shoe shops and then at the Lowell General Hospital as a custodian until his retirement.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Arthur Basdanes of Lowell; a daughter, Valerie Nicolls and her husband, Ronald of Dracut; two sisters, Via Mackiej and her husband, Walter and family of Andover, Susan Nordstrom and family of Waltham; three grandchildren, Annmarie Cantin and her husband, Steven of Winchendon, Cynthia Rios and her husband, Luis of Lowell, Michelle Cunha and her husband Nicholas of Nashua, NH; seven great grandchildren, Alyssa Nicolls, Tabitha Cantin, Alex Cantin, Kasandra Rios, Ariana Rios, Savannah Rios, Alicia Cunha; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Charles, George, Demetra, Alec and John Basdanes and Helen Lazarus, father-in-law of the late Patricia Basdanes and great grandfather of the late Kaylee Cunha.
