Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Friend
Dracut - Therese J. (Gendreau) Marcoux, beloved wife of the late Rolland Marcoux, passed away peacefully at her Dracut residence on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was 97.
Born on May 15, 1929 in d’Orleans, Quebec, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Adjutor and Eva (Goulet) Gendreau.
Therese and Rolland lived in Drummondville, Canada, for many years, where they owned and operated an apartment building, the Marcoux Cigarette Company, and a gas station. In 1960, they emigrated to the United States, settling in Lawrence. In 1971, they returned to Drummondville, where they continued to build a life together.
Therese enjoyed camping and corn parties and especially looked forward to traveling with her family, including trips to Las Vegas and St. Maarten. Her home was always open to family and friends, and she was well known for her wonderful cooking. No matter who stopped by, Therese was always happy to prepare a meal and make everyone feel welcome.
Therese and Rolland shared 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2013. She later moved to Dracut, where she lived with her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Diane Marcoux. Therese was a devout Catholic and had a special devotion to St. Joseph.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Francine and Michel Chaput of Dracut; her daughter-in-law, Diane (Jean) Marcoux of Dracut; two grandchildren, Michael Marcoux, Jr. and his wife, Amanda, and Danielle Marcoux; granddaughter-in-law, Stephanie Gauthier; five great-grandchildren, Corey Gauthier, Alex Gauthier, Michaela Marcoux, Matthew Marcoux, and Maxime Marcoux; and her godchild, Maryse Delorme.
Therese was the mother of the late Michael Marcoux and grandmother of the late Eric Gauthier. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Ovila Gendreau, Diana Drouin, Adjutor Gendreau, Jr., Gerard Gendreau, Robert Gendreau, Jeanne d’Arc Bernard, Roland Gendreau, Ludger Gendreau, Therese Marcoux, Yvonne Julien, and Aline Arseneault.
Relatives and friends are invited to Therese’s Life Celebration in the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth Street, on Monday from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at Ste. Marguerite D’Youville Church, 1340 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Therese’s memory may be made to the Cancer Center at Lowell General Hospital, 295 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA 01854.
