Obituary - Susan M. Bailey
Lowell - Susan M. (Dunn) Bailey, 38, wife of Jason H. Bailey, a resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, died Wednesday November 9, at the Boston Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was born in Cheverly, MD on September 16, 1967, a daughter and step daughter of Barbara (Sieferd) and Frank Anthony of Columbia Falls, ME, and daughter of the late S. Thomas Dunn.
She was a graduate of Lynn English High School in Lynn, and received a Bachelors Degree in Voice Performance at the University of Lowell.
Mrs. Bailey was a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the owner and instructor at Susan's Studio of Voice, and a voice instructor at Musicworks Inc. in Tewksbury.
She was a certified Miss America judge for 2 years, and had spent 13 years as the Dracut Scholarship Foundation's local talent coordinator's assistant, 10 years as the Sr. staff voice instructor at University Music in Lowell, 8 years as voice instructor for the Top 40 program at Northern Middlesex High School in Townsend, 6 years as Director of Music at Christ Church United in Dracut, 4 years as the Cantor and Choir Director at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Andover, 2 years as the Boston area instructor for Alesis Artist Development Program, 10 years touring and competing with the Arbella Drum Corps as Color Guard and Conductor, 4 years as the Founder, Director, Conductor, and Choreographer of Broadway on Main Street to benefit the St. John the Evangelist Church Scholarship Foundation in Townsend. She was also the director, instructor, founder and soloist of the Silver Swan Cancer Research Benefit Concert. Mrs. Bailey had also performed many roles in musicals and operas including, LaBoheme, Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro, Maria in West Side Story, and Guennivere in Camelo.
She is also survived by five sisters, Lorraine Martin of Reading, Angela Jackson of Cambridge, Katherine Castania of Bangor, ME, Brenda Anthony of Wakefield, Crystal Anthony of Columbia Falls, ME; six brothers, Paul Dunn of North Granby CT, Bryan Dunn of Billerica, Michael Anthony of Lincoln, NE, William Anthony, Keith Anthony both of Lynn, Tony Anthony of Jonesboro, ME; a niece Ashley Dunn of Billerica; and all of their families.
