Dracut - Stanley A. Anderson, a Dracut resident, beloved husband of the late Doris R. (Lafontaine) Anderson with whom he was married to for 65 years, died on Saturday August 9, 2014 following a period of declining health. He was 94.
He was born in Lowell on July 20, 1920, a son of the late Andriejus and Marijona (Alodavich) Andriuskevicius.
Stanley was a member of the Greatest Generation having served as a gunner in the Army during WWII until wounds he received in the Guadalcanal Campaign forced his discharge. He was awarded the Purple Heart. Stanley was a member and former Commander of the South Pacific Buddies Association.
Prior to his retirement Stanley worked as a foreman for Corenco in Lowell. He liked to play cribbage, and was an avid sports fan, especially the New England Patriots. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports. Stanley cherished his baseball hat collection, enjoyed going out to breakfast, collecting coins, and watching western movies on television. Most of all Stanley cherished his family. He looked forward to Christmas Eve when everyone would be together. His family described Stanley as an independent person who was patriotic and proud. He could be opinionated at times, but most of all he put his family first, as they were paramount to him.
Stanley's family would like to thank the staff of Life Care Centers of Merrimack Valley for their excellent care and kindness during this difficult time. It was greatly appreciated.
Surviving him are his three children and their spouses, Paul and Janet Anderson of NH, Gail and John Kucharski of Billerica, Michael And Elizabeth Anderson of Dracut; a brother Charles Andruskiewicz of Nashua, NH; a sister and brother in law, Helen and Leo Nalivaika of Worcester; a sister in law Pearl Rivard of Salem, NH; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Veronica Chester, and father in law of the late Richard Pepin.
