Sophie T. (Gazda) Thibault

TEWKSBURY - Sophie T. (Gazda) Thibault, 89, a resident of Tewksbury and former longtime resident of Lowell died Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Lowell General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Raymond A. "Mike" Thibault and mother of the late Brenda Hervieux.

She was born in Lowell on September 26, 1927, and was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Patla) Gazda. She received her education in Lowell schools.

Prior to her retirement, Sophie was employed by Anton's Cleaners in Lowell. Earlier in life she was employed as a solderer by Merrimack Magnetics in Lowell.

In recent years she resided at Bayberry at Emerald Court in Tewksbury where she enjoyed cooking and community functions.

Sophie's greatest joy came from spending time in the company of her loving family.

She was a former communicant of Ste. Marguerite Parish in Dracut.

Sophie is survived by her godson and nephew, Jeffrey Maille and his wife Sharon of Dracut; her nephew, James Maille and his wife Robin of Dracut; her nieces, Marianne and James Luedtke, and Deborah Courtemanche all of Dracut, Dorothy "Dotty" and John Hayes of Lowell; and Lillian Ptzarakas of Florida; her dear friends at Bayberry, Ralph, Marie, and Sharon; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. She was also the sister of the late Fred Gazda, Helen Plouffe and her husband Norbert "Ray" , Stephanie Carignan and her husband Joe, Rose Maille and her husband Raymond, Sister Mary Aloysious Gazda, OSF, and Sister Mary Agnes Gazda, OSF.
