Shirley P. Topjian

Shirley P. (Proude) Topjian, 96, died Friday, November 21, 2025 at Northwood Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Gilbert G. Topjian, until his passing in 2009.

Born in Croydon, England on February 5, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Geoffrey Proude. Shirley was the true definition of a homemaker and her ability to create a nurturing, supportive and comfortable environment is what her children will forever hold in their hearts and to them the perfect mother did exist.

She loved gardening, reading, cooking and socializing with friends.

Shirley is survived by her children; Christine Volianites of Dracut, Peter Topjian of Lowell and Steven Topjian of CA; her five grandchildren, Jamie, Jennifer, James, Peter and Kristen; her three great-grandchildren, Camden and Mylee O’Connell and Donald James; her niece, Fiona; her daughter-in-law, Linda Topjian; as well as many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was the mother of the late Gene Topjian and the sister of the late Peter Proude.

Relatives and friends are invited to Shirley’s Life Celebration at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Sunday, November 30, 2025 from 2:30 until 4:30 PM. Her Funeral Service will be celebrated immediately following at 4:30 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be held privately.
