Shirley M. Lagasse

Dracut - Shirley M. (Gagnon) Lagasse, widow of Richard C. Lagasse, and longtime partner of Kenny Myers with whom she made her home for the past 23 years, died Sunday March 29, 2009 at her Dracut residence surrounded by her devoted family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 79.
Shirley was born in Chelmsford on July 31, 1929, eldest daughter of the late Albert J and Corine B. (Loiselle) Gagnon, and resided in Dracut for most of her life.
She was a communicant of Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Parish in Dracut.
Shirley worked in the family business, A.J. Gagnon and Sons for many years as a school bus driver. She enjoyed retirement years by travelling and going on cruises with Kenny and her family. Shirley looked forward to the summer when she would go camping at the beach with her daughter and friends. She looked forward to long weekends in Wolfeboro, NH. Shirley had a passion for playing cards and bingo and was considered an artist by many in the field of cross stitch. She was a member of the Angels Foundation, which is a cancer support group.
Surviving her besides her longtime partner Kenny, is a daughter, Janet Cushion and her partner Beryl Cleveland of Dracut; six sons and spouses, Denis A. and Linda Leclair of Dracut, Ernest J. and Cindy Leclair of Hudson, NH, Forrest J. and wife Jeannine Gauthier of Dracut, Robert J. and Karen Leclair of Salem, NH, Mark J. and Sandra Leclair of St. Albans, VT, Henry M. Leclair and his partner Rhys Wyman of Windham, NH; three sisters and brothers in law, Jean and Walter Kendall of Dracut, Doris and James Crider of Dracut, Diane and Robert Gormley of Glendale AZ, six brothers and sisters in law, Harvey J. and Loyce Gagnon, Albert J. and Lorraine Gagnon, Robert J. and Rose Gagnon, all of Dracut, Donald J. and Evelyn Gagnon of Alexandria, NH, Gerald J. and Lorraine Gagnon of Dracut, Denis H. and Sharon Gagnon of Troy Michigan; thirteen grandchildren, Jeff Leclair, Sarah Carter, Jared Leclair, Matthew Leclair, Forrest Leclair, Jr., Crystal Leclair, Beau Leclair, Richard Cushion, Nicole Cushion, Adam Leclair, Chad Leclair, Caleb Leclair, Austin Leclair; a greatgrandson, Kristin Troy Carter, III; many nieces, nephews and friends; and her pet cat Angel. She was also the mother of the late David J. Leclair.
