Shirley A. (Burns) Kiernan

April 17, 1930 — November 21, 2021

Lowell – Shirley A. (Burns) Kiernan, a lifelong resident of Lowell, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at the age of 91. She passed with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond P. Kiernan.
Born in Lowell on April 17, 1930, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Soroghan) Burns. She was also the sister of the late Raymond Burns and Dorothy Daigle.
Shirley, who took tremendous pride in her work, was employed by Sanders Associates of Nashua, where she worked for many years leading up to her retirement. Even in retirement, Shirley remained active and worked part-time as a receptionist with the Lowell Senior Center.
She was a long-time communicant of St. Michael's Parish in Lowell.
Shirley was a proud, life member of both the East End Club Ladies Auxiliary and the Lowell VFW, Walker Roger's Post 662 Ladies Auxiliary.
To her family, Shirley was the light of their lives. The love and support she always provided was constant and a comfort to all of them. Her passing has left a tremendous void in their hearts and lives.
Shirley is survived by her loving daughter, Carol A. Plante of Lowell. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Eric Carroll and his wife Chelsy of Manchester, NH, Heather Carroll of Manchester, NH, Caitlin Plante and Abigail Plante both of Lowell; 4 great-grandchildren, Zachary Lemire, Justin and Brendan Carroll, and Kayden Melendez; her godson, Arthur Daigle of Dracut, MA; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the mother in-law to the late Barry Plante.
Relatives and friends are invited to Shirley's Memorial Visitation on Sunday from 2 until 5 PM at the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral home, 327 Hildreth Street. Shirley's family respectfully request that all visitors wear a face covering. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday morning at 9am in St. Michael Church. Following mass, services are concluded.
