Shirley G. (Temple) Hoare Owner of W.J. Hoare Seafood Restaurant; 87 

Salisbury - Shirley G. (Temple) Hoare, 87, a resident of Salisbury for the last several years, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024, following a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late William J. “Jimmy” Hoare, III, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage prior to his passing.

Born in New London, CT on August 19, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Walter W. and Jean M. (Wieczorek) Temple.

Shirley was a graduate of Howe High School in Billerica prior to her family moving to California. Following a year on the West Coast they returned home settling in the South Lowell section of the city.

She met her husband, Jimmy through mutual friends and they were married in January 1961. They later moved to Tyngsboro to raise their growing family. She was very active in the community and a member of several social organizations like The Saints Snowmobile Club, Tyngsboro Dunstable Historical Society and The Candlelight Club. 

In 1976, Jim and Shirley took over the operations of W.J. Hoare Seafood Restaurant on Gorham Street until their retirement in 1987. Not one to stay idle, Shirley got a job with the IRS as a tax examiner in their Andover location.

She enjoyed spending time with her family at Salisbury Beach, their family camp in Orford NH and later, wintering in Daytona Beach Florida.

She is survived by four children, Dana J. Hoare-Travaglini and his husband Michael, Robert W. Hoare and his wife Bonnie (Silk), Marianne L. McKenna and her husband Jay, and Kimberly R. Dahlberg and her husband Christopher; seven grandchildren, Brittney and Robert Hoare, Walter, Elly and Patrick McKenna, Madison Burkett and her husband Jonathan and Christopher Dahlberg; her great grandson, Brooks Burkett; her three sisters, Terry Clark and her husband Frank, Jean DePalma and her husband Mike, Sandy Billington and her husband Bill; her aunt, Fran Mather; her dear friend of many years, Linda Sweet; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the mother of the late Deborah J. Hoare.

Relatives and friends are invited to Shirley’s Life Celebration on Monday from 4 until 7 PM at McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 10 AM at St Mary Magdalen Church, 95 Lakeview Ave., Tyngsboro. KINDLY MEET AT CHURCH. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
