Shirley A. (Charity) Capsalis, age 86, a resident of Dracut passed peacefully surrounded by her family no Monday, April 14, 2025. She was the cherished wife of the late James A. Capsalis, with whom she was happily married to for 42 years until his passing in 2018.
She was born in Lowell on February 8, 1939 and was a daughter of the late Jeannette (Brunelle) and Charles Charity.
Shirley embodied kindness in every way possible. Giving came second nature and one would say there wasn’t a mean bone in her body.
James and Shirley were inseparable with their years of marital bliss. Always together, doing crafts, 4th of July cookouts, traveling and spending time with their adored grandkids.
She also enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, taking her family camping at Quechee Gorge, Vermont, day trips to Newfound Lake, watching the birds and her weekly visits with her brother and sister-in-law.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Sheryl Pelham and her husband Jamie of Dracut; her grandchildren, Isabella “Bella” and Madeline “Maddie” Pelham; her brother, Robert Charity and his wife Suzanne; her sister, Dolores L’Heureux; her best friend since childhood, Patricia Cashman; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she is reunited and grandmother of the late James P. Pelham and the sister of the late Henry Brunelle, Edward Charity, Jacqueline Gauthier and Isabelle Fulton.
Per Shirley’s wishes all services were held privately. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SADS Foundation, 4527 South 2300 East, Suite 104, Salt Lake City, UT 84117.
