Sandie passed away peacefully on Friday, January 11th in her home in Dracut, MA following a brief battle with cancer. Her family was by her side. She was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on December 30th, 1940, the daughter of the late Stanley E. Wojas, Sr. and Madelyn C. (Hodgdon) Santa Donato. She graduated from Lowell High School, class of 1958, having recently attended her 60th class reunion. Before her retirement several years ago Sandie was a house cleaner for more than 32 years.
Sandie was an avid bingo player at Kiwanis Hall in Hudson on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She also enjoyed the beach, reading, The New England Patriots and Tom Brady, crossword puzzles, playing the slots and cards, shopping, dining out with friends and family and traveling.
Besides her husband of 60 years, Robert F. Elie, she is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Darlene J. Jarvis of Redding, CA, Rhonda S. and Stephen Chauncey of N. Chelmsford, MA, Justine D. and Peter McCartin of Fort Worth, TX; one son and daughter-in-law, Henry J.R. and Darlene Elie; ten grandchildren, Christian L. Stover, Alayna N. McDonough, Sherilynne Pagan, Michael Schulze, Max Schulze, Brittany L. Allison, Brianna M. Allison, Seamus A. McCartin, Garrett Munsey and Rebecca C. Elie; six great-grandchildren, Jose Pagan, Josh Pagan, Jacob Pagan, Paxton Schulze, Isaac Schulze, Bosley Schulze; four sisters, Donna Rourke of Lowell, MA, Gail Wojas of Tewksbury, MA, Linda Paquette and her husband Andre of Dracut, MA and Sharon Gingras and her husband Philip of Salem, NH; two brothers, John Wojas and his wife Lynn of Winnisquam, NH and Michael Wojas of Lowell, MA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her bingo friends of Kiwanis Hall.
Sandie was also the mother of the late Jolene Elie, sister to the late Stanley E. Wojas Jr. and sister-in-law to the late John Rourke.
