Obituary
LOWELL - Salvatore "Sam" Licata, 95, a Lowell resident, died Saturday, July 9, 2005 at his home. He was the husband of the late Josephine (Cumbo) Licata.
Born in Catania, Sicily on October 30, 1909, he was a son of the late Vincenzo and Carmela (Rimi) Licata.
Prior to his retirement in 1975, Mr. Licata was employed as a driver for Soloman Mental Health of Lowell.
He was a communicant of St. Margaret Church in Lowell.
He was a charter member of the Italian/American Citizens Club of Lowell and a member of the Sons of Italy of Lowell.
He is survived by his son, Vincent S. Licata of Lowell, with whom he resided; his daughter, Carmela "Carmy" Jones of Dracut; five grandchildren, Sharon Gallo of Ansonia, CT, Gina Pinkham and her husband Marc of Lowell, Christina Kairouz and her husband Willy of Pennacook, NH, Cindy Teixeira of Loudon, NH and Anthony Jones of Lowell; 10 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He also leaves three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Jane Pirini, Carmella and John O'Connell and Mary Kozen, all of Portsmouth, NH. He was the father of the late Anthony Licata, great grandfather of the late Phillip Tiebor, brother of the late Joseph Licata and his wife, the late Anna Licata, father-in-law of the late Russell G. Jones Jr. and Geraldine F. (Sweet) Licata.
