Ruth M. (Rousseau) Mason, widow of Edwin J. Mason, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at her Dracut residence, surrounded by her beloved family. She was 86.
Born in Lowell on April 20, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Paul Rousseau and the late Estelle (Hervieux) Gaudet.
Ruth began her career in banking at the former Union National Bank while in high school. She held many positions over the years from teller, to loan officer. One of her many contributions was translating documents for the French-Canadien community of Centralville. Ruth retired when the bank was sold and eventually closed its Centralville branch.
Ruth enjoyed her retirement. She and a group of friends joined a walking club. They sometimes traveled together and one trip of walking took them to Mackinac Island in Michigan. Ruth traveled extensively and some of her favorite spots were Alaska, Hawaii and Banff, Alberta Canada. Ruth looked forward to her monthly lunches with her friends simply known as "The Girls"
For Ruth, family was everything and she cherished the time spent with them, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her three children and their spouses, Karen and Louis Lachapelle of Lowell, Carl and Nicole Mason of Dracut, Beth and Michael Pelton of Winchester, NH; four grandchildren, Dawna Mackland-Rivera and her husband Dan, Adam Lachapelle, Hannah Harrold, and Chloe Mason; two great grandchildren, Mason and Madison Mackland - Rivera; sisters and brothers and their spouses, Jeannine Teague of Lowell, Paul and Bridget Gaudet of Gilford, NH, Gus and Beverly Gaudet of Dracut, Christina and Dave Pelletier of Concord, NH; several nieces, nephews and dear friends including Dorothy Dwinell of Dracut. Ruth was predeceased by her daughter Lisa Mason, her brother Denis Gaudet, and her step father J. Oliver Gaudet.
Relatives and friends are invited to Ruth's Life Celebration at the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth Street from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Saturday.
