Ruth Ann Ellis

February 23, 1945 — April 12, 2024

Dracut

Ruth Ann Ellis, 79, died unexpectedly on Friday, April 12, 2024 at her home in Dracut, Massachusetts. She had been valiantly battling a recent cancer diagnosis.

Ruth Ann was born in 1945 to parents Mary and Harold Ellis of Lowell. She attended Lowell parochial grammar and high schools and graduated from Rivier College in Nashua, attaining a bachelor degree in Education. She immediately began her teaching career in the Chelmsford school system focusing on early childhood education and remained in that capacity until her retirement in 2010. Not one to simply sit around, she took great pleasure in years of seasonable employment with Parley Farms in Tyngsboro, where her duties included guiding tours through the farm property for youngsters and their families and other visitor related activities.

She was predeceased by her sister Joan and is survived by her brothers, Richard Ellis and wife Sandra of Harwich, MA and William Ellis of Norfolk, MA. She is also survived by Ellis family members, Scott and wife Eleanor of Chelmsford, MA and Stephen and wife Christine of Alton, NH.

Ruth Ann was a truly giving person to the many who were fortunate to have known her, giving the most generous gift of all, her personal time and affection. It didn’t matter if they were her granddaughters, nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors or “line dancing” partners, she always made them feel loved and important in her life.

Ruth Ann will be sorely missed.
