Lancaster, SC - Mr. Russell G. Quinton, age 82, passed away at his home Tuesday, June 13, 2017. He was the son of David Alexander and Annie "Sally" Alexandra Lowe Quinton of Cambridge, MA.
Russell is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Claire M. (Rondeau) Quinton, seven children; Deborah (Richard) Reingold, Carlton (Alice) Quinton, Angela (Joe) Lancia, Patricia (Bob) Whitaker, David (Susan) Quinton, Ronald Quinton and Kevin Quinton, eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by four brothers and his granddaughter, Hannah N. Quinton.
Russell served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars in the United States Air Force for 12 years and the Army National Guard for 9-1/2 years. After his honorable discharge from the United States Air Force, he took a position as a System Analyst with GTE Sylvania in Danvers, MA until December 1981. During his time with Sylvania, he was a mentor with the Junior Achievement organization. He transferred to Lancaster to work at GTE Sylvania, Joselyn Challenger and Joselyn Clark Controls as a Data Processing Manager for nine years. His early retirement career was as a printer after he purchased Craftsman Press in 1990 until his full retirement in 1999. He was a long-time member of Lynnwood United Methodist Church. He served as a member of the Men's Club, as the church financial secretary, and sang in the choir among many other roles.
He was instrumental in the formation of the Bridge Program from its inception.
He was a Past Master of the Amicable Lodge and the 7th Lodge of Instruction both in Cambridge, MA and a member of the Jackson Masonic Lodge in Lancaster. He was also a Dad Advisor for the DeMolay at Jackson Lodge during the 1980's. He was an avid blood donor for the American Red Cross. Russell enjoyed playing cards and board games, bowling, golfing, boating, and traveling in the RV with Claire. He adored his family and cherished their gatherings for every birthday, holiday and special event.
