DRACUT - Royal A. Daigle, age 80, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 19, 2017 following a brief period of declining health.
Born in Dracut on May 14, 1936, Royal was a son of the late Albert G. and Marie R. (Chalifoux) Daigle. He was educated in the Dracut school system and was a graduate of the Dracut High School.
Royal lived at home for most of his life and despite having cerebral palsy, he never let it slow him down. He could often be seen, as many will remember, walking to the former Jerry's variety store, or sitting on the wall in front of the store.
An avid and extremely knowledgeable Red Sox fan, Royal loved to watch all of the games, but was happiest when he visited Fenway Park. He also enjoyed going to the movies at the old Rte. 3 Cinemas with family and friends.
Royal was a resident of D'Youville Life & Wellness Community in Lowell, MA for 17 years. While there, he always attended the 4:00 PM Mass every Saturday and was very active in the D'Youville Men's Guild. He enjoyed playing bingo and until very recently, attended all the games. He made many friends while at D'Youville Life & Wellness Community and will be sadly missed and very lovingly remembered by both staff and friends.
Survivors include his brother, Albert G. Daigle of Dracut; two sisters, Joanne Gilbert of Dracut, Isabelle Poirier of Lowell, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Pauline Levesque, Priscilla Daigle, and Rachel Descoteaux.
