Roy F. White, Jr., a Lowell resident, and the beloved husband of Phyllis G. (Chase) White, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was 83.
Born in Boston, on March 11, 1934, he was a son of the late Roy F. and Anna G. (Walsh) White. Roy was raised in Reading and following his graduation from Reading High School he enlisted in the US Army and served in the Korean War.
Prior to his retirement, Roy worked for 32 years as a maintenance mechanic working on Industrial machinery at Sweetheart Plastics.
Roy was an avid fisherman, who enjoyed the mountains and lakes, especially his time spent at Newfound Lake, NH. He and Phyllis enjoyed visiting Deerfield Beach, Florida. Roy loved his Boston Bruins.
Roy was easygoing and quiet. He had enjoyed coaching hockey and baseball when his family was younger. For Roy family was paramount, especially his grandchildren. He cherished all the time spent with them.
His family would like to thank the compassionate staff at Nashua Crossing, and The Community Hospice House for all of the care given to Roy.
Surviving Roy besides Phyllis his wife of 55 years, are his three children and their spouses, Steven and Sherri White of San Carlos, CA, Kathleen and John Pierce of Tyngsboro, Ted and Sara White of Pepperell; seven grandchildren, Kyle White, Ethan White, Nicole Pierce, Sarah Pierce, Liam White, Aidan White, Colin White; a brother and sister in law, David and Carole White of Marblehead; a sister in law, Elaine Chase of Hudson, NH; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Robert White and sister Dorothy McWhinnie.
