Ronald E. Girard, beloved husband of the late Pauline (Reardon) Girard, a resident of Tewksbury died on Sunday December 15, 2013 at the Lowell General Hospital – Saints Campus following an unexpected illness. He was 84.
Born in Lowell on June 3, 1929, Ron was a son of the late Adelard "Eddie" and Annie (McKercher) Girard.
Ron attended Lowell schools and was a 1947 graduate of Lowell High School. He then embarked on a 46 year career at the Former Colonial Gas Company, retiring in 1994 as the supervisor of construction and maintenance.
Ron has been a Tewksbury resident since 1963 and had served on the Board of Appeals there from 1983 to 1988.
Ron loved to work. He enjoyed projects around his house and at his home in Jupiter, FL while spending winters there.
He took pleasure in traveling with his late wife, and enjoyed time at Lake Winnipesaukee.
Family members describe Ron as focused and compassionate. He was a sweet man that loved to socialize. His friends and family were paramount to him. Ron cherished time spent with them, especially his grandchildren. Christmas was his beloved holiday and looked forward to the season with family and friends.
He held membership in the D'Youville Manor Men's Guild.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah A. Girard and her spouse Phyllis Terrey of Acton; a son Thomas R. Girard and his spouse Dianne of Meredith, NH; four grandchildren Kayla Girard, Anna Girard, Chad Turner, Crystal Turner; two great grandchildren, Mitchell and Morgan Turner; dear friends, Jan Ruest of Dracut, Normand and Doris Gariepy of Tyngsboro; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Roger Girard and Constance Moran.
