Ronald J. (Harrington) Gagne

August 10, 1937 — February 28, 2011

LOWELL – Ronald J. (Harrington) Gagne, beloved husband of Carol A. (Sheehan) Gagne, a resident of the Christian Hill neighborhood in the Centralville section of Lowell, died Monday, February 28, 2011 surrounded by his loving family following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 73.
He was born in Lowell on August 10, 1937 the son of the late Cleofas R. Gagne and Albertha M. (Arsenault) (Gagne) Harrington.
Mr. Gagne attended Lowell Schools graduating from Lowell High School, Class of 1955. During the early 1950’s he boxed in the Silver Mittens winning a championship in his weight class. Following high school he served with the United States Navy from 1955 until 1958.
Prior to his retirement, Ron was employed by Lockheed Sanders Corp. of Nashua, NH for 35 years. Following retirement, he worked at Diamond Business Forms in Dracut and as security for the Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Ron was a communicant of St. Michael Church. He was a life member of the East End Club and loved to play golf with his friends.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a sister, Eleanor Goulkin of Dracut; a brother, John Harrington of Lowell; a son, Robert Gagne of Lowell; two daughters, Suzanne McCarthy and her husband Stephen of Lowell and Christina Phillips and her husband Richard of Hudson, NH; six grandchildren, Christian, Sheehan and Jordan McCarthy, Joshua Manty, Jarod and Jonathan Phillips. He was the father of the late Joseph Gagne of San Diego, CA and brother of the late William Harrington.
Ron’s family would like to thank the staff of the oncology infusion room at the Lowell General Cancer Center for their compassionate care during his illness.
