Lowell - Romeo E. Mercier, 87, widower of Pauline (Paquette) Mercier, a resident of the Pawtucketville section of Lowell, died Saturday April 14, 2007, at the Lowell General Hospital.
He was born in Lowell on August 20, 1919, a son of the late Philias and Marie Jeanne (Boucher) Mercier.
Romeo was the president of Mercier Bros., Inc. Garage and Car Wash in Lowell. He was an avid bowler and past president of the Greater Lowell Bowling Association (GLBA), and past president of the Brunswick Men's Bowling League, vice president of the Fabulous Duos Bowling Team. In earlier years he was a member of the Guard Fortinac Drill Team.
Survivors include four sons and two daughters in law, Normand F. Mercier of Lowell, Ronald M. and Michelle Mercier of ME, Michael A. and Anne Mercier of GA, Richard D. Mercier of Lowell; two daughters and sons in law, Elaine Y. and Bill Jubinville of Dracut, Suzanne J. and Daniel Donahue of FL; a brother Arthur O. Mercier, of Dracut; two sisters, Loretta Mercier of Dracut, Jeanette Hubert; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Gerard D. Mercier, Roland G. Mercier, Rita Mercier, Cecile McLarnon, and Lillian Goudreau.
