Roland A. Morrissette

October 23, 1923 — December 20, 2012

Roland A. Morrissette, 89, a longtime resident of the Centralville section of Lowell, passed away on Thursday December 20, 2012 at Saints Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Gloria M. (Maille) Morrissette of Lowell with whom he was married for 66 years.
Born in Lowell on October 23, 1923, he was a son of the late Edmond A. and Clarilda (Paquette) Morrissette.
During WWII, Roland proudly served in the United States Army, 191 Tank Battalion, participating in the European and African Campaigns.
Prior to his retirement in 1983, Roland was a truck driver at Sonoco Products in Lowell. He was considered an excellent handy-man by his family, always having a project to work on and was a very supportive husband and father through this hobby.
He loved to bowl , often twice weekly, in various leagues, at Brunswick Lanes in Lowell. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
He was a communicant of the former St. Louis Church and most recently was a parishioner of St. Michael Church, Lowell. Roland was also a member of the Lowell Senior Center.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons; Roland M. "Butch" Morrissette and his wife Diane (Brouillette) of Pelham, NH and Roy G. Morrissette and his wife Donna (Painchaud) of Manchester, NH, 6 daughters; Diane Monbleau and her husband, Paul of Dracut, Linda White and her husband, Richard of Lowell, Doris Morrissette of Lowell, Donna Dery and her husband, Maurice of Townsend, Patricia Bannon and her husband Eugene of Pensacola, FL, Robin Speronis of Cape Coral, FL; 15 grandchildren, Lt. Col Philip Monbleau, US Army, Stephen Monbleau, Amanda Boglarski, Gregory White, Emily Rose, Timothy Morrissette, Jonathan Dery, Travis Dery, Michelle Krants, Sherry Sherwood, HM2, US Navy, Thomas Bannon, Derik Bannon, Elaine Bannon, CTPSN, US Navy, Amy Morrissette, Lynn Morrissette; 11 great grandchildren; four brothers-in-law, Robert Maille of Dracut, Roger Maille of Lowell, Raymond Maille and his wife, Rose of Dracut, and Dewey Maille of Nashua, NH; a dear friend, Eleanor O'Connell of Dracut; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father-in-law of the late Zenny Speronis and brother of the late Antoinette St. George, Valeda Landry, Gertrude Swinierski, Cecile Bonin, Yvette Stankatis and Claire Morrissette.
