Roland E. Demonceau passed away December 1, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving children. Roland was predeceased by his wife Doris (Poitras), who was the love of his life. He was also predeceased by his second wife, Joan (Kelley) who he loved and shared 34 years. Roland was born in Lowell on October 4, 1929, the son of the late Octave and Blanche Demonceau. He was the oldest and big brother of three sisters.
Roland served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Chauncey during the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Salem, NH and formally with the Immaculate Conception church in Lowell, MA. Prior to his retirement Roland worked as an engineer at Western Electric in North Andover, MA. He was also an enrolled tax agent for the Internal Revenue Service working for H & R Block. Roland prepared taxes for people until last year when illness forced him to retire. He loved preparing taxes and helping solve tax issues. Roland was a people person. He was honest, caring and fair, with high moral standards, who truly wanted the best for the people he met.
Roland liked to play cards at the Salem, NH Senior Center. He also enjoyed bowling and bowled weekly with family and friends. Roland was fond of traveling. He visited Palm Springs every year for a few months and traveled to Aruba many times. He set out across the country on an adventure through the US visiting many states. Recently, he traveled with family to Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, and Bermuda.
Survivors include his son, Roland O. Demonceau and his spouse Lu of Chester, NH. Two daughters, Donna Richard and her spouse, Thomas of Salem, NH, and Angela Gagnon and her spouse George of Windham, NH. He also leaves stepchildren and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and he sadly leaves his dear friend Sandy Lord of Salem, NH.
