LOWELL - Roland C. Cartier, Jr., age 67, a longtime resident of Lowell died unexpectedly Thursday, October 22, 2020 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Michelle L. Largay.
He was born in New Haven, CT on October 26, 1952, and was a son of the late Roland C. Cartier, Sr. and the late Eleanor (Gilson) Cartier.
An honorably discharged veteran, Roland proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
Roland worked tirelessly throughout his life on behalf of veterans, especially those in the Greater Lowell community.
Prior to his retirement, Roland was employed as a Veteran Peer Specialist by Community Teamwork Inc. in Lowell.
He was a longtime member of the Lowell Veteran's Commission, Dom Polski Club, and the Centralville Social Club, all in Lowell, a member and acting treasurer of The Heart of a Traveling Soldier, and a member, founder, and former chairman of the Helping Hands Veteran Club.
In his free time he enjoyed collecting military coins.
In addition to his wife, Roland is survived by his two sons, Roland C. Cartier, III and his partner Heather of Spring Hill, FL and Robert Cartier of Lowell; two daughters, Renee Cartier of Manchester, NH and Kristen Karhan of Lowell; seven grandchildren, Kayla Rameriz, Katelyn Cartier, Alexis Agrella, Chace Cartier, Robert Cartier, Alaya Molina, and Alanna Molina; three great grandchildren, Adam Spooner, Jr., Abriella Spooner, and Ashton Spooner
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Roland's Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Sunday, November 1st from 2:00 until 4:00 pm. His Military Funeral Honors will be held on Monday at 1:00 pm at WESTLAWN CEMETERY on 215 Boston Road in Lowell.
