Roland J. Boisvert, a Dracut resident died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July, 4, 2018, at the Lowell General Hospital. He was 85.
Roland was born in Lowell on January 31, 1933, a son of the late Victor and Jeannette (Trouville) Boisvert.
He graduated from the former Lowell Trade school and then embarked on a 42 year career at the Raytheon Corporation, retiring as a tool and dye maker - machinist.
While at Raytheon, Roland enlisted in the Army National Guard. He served six years, being discharged with the rank of Sergeant in 1963.
Roland enjoyed roller skating in his younger years, which is where he met his wife Jacqueline (Hanson) Boisvert. They spent 55 years together before she passed away in 2014.
His family remembers Roland's love of the outdoors, visiting Lake Winnipesaukee, the Florida Keys, and Country Pond Campground in Plastow, NH, where he camped with his family for more than 50 years.
Roland visited the beach at Seabrook, NH with Jacqueline, and they took many trips to Foxwoods Resort together.
He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes. Any day was a good day when he was spending it at Rockingham Park, or his yearly visit to Saratoga Race Track in New York. Most of all Roland cherished the time spent with his family.
Survivors include his children; Jospeh J. Boisvert and his companion Donna Wolfenden of Salem, NH, Robert Boisvert and his companion Maura Egan of Dracut, James Boisvert and his wife Nicole of Pepperell, Deborah Demers and her husband Roger of Dracut, eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Yvette Pellerin and Rita Joyal.
Relatives and friends are invited to Roland's Life Celebration at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street from 6 until 8 PM on Tuesday. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Church, 115 Wheeler Rd. Dracut, Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
