Lowell

Robert Roy “Bobby” Karlberg, age 62, died unexpectedly in his sleep on Thursday, January 26, 2023. He was the son of the late Claire (Bronzetti) and Robert Karlberg.

Bobby was born in Boston on June 23, 1960. He was raised in Tewksbury, MA and attended Tewksbury Memorial High School. He was employed at Prince Macaroni for several years and then as a lead cook at the Tewksbury State Hospital, retiring in 2016.

Bobby loved anything to do with the outdoors and open water. He had multiple 4-wheelers that he used in the summer and more so for ice fishing. Canoeing allowed him to get into tight sports for trout fishing but he loved his boat and access to deep water for Haddock, as he had done with his Uncle Bill.

Bobby also traveled all over the country and to Alaska, three times, for fishing for Salmon and Halibut. He also traveled with his Dad and brothers, to Anchorage and the Kenai Peninsula for Chinook, Red and King Salmon.

Bobby was also a hunter, which he enjoyed doing  with his brother, Randy. He was an accomplished cook and was always creating amazing food dishes in which many of his relatives and friends enjoyed while attending the Karlberg Annual Pig Roast every July 4th and during family gatherings over Thanksgiving and Christmas. He was a very caring person and was always there to help a friend in need.

Bobby is survived and will be deeply missed by his two brothers, Robert Ronald Karlberg and his wife Maureen Marr-Karlberg of Lowell and Ricky Karlberg of Tewksbury; his two sisters, Robin Ricard of Rochester, NH and Roseann Karlberg of Tewksbury; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a great-great nephew.

He now joins his late brother, Randy, whose birthday was two days before his and whom he loved celebrating with and his long-time girlfriend, Sherry Boyd, who also loved the outdoors, camping and fishing with him.

A private service will be held at a later date at the family burial ground in Newington, NH.
