Robert M. "Michael" O'Connell

Robert M. “Michael” O’Connell, 82, died on February 21, 2023 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Carole D. (Gallagher) O’Connell with whom he would have shared 60 years of marriage in July.

He was born in Eastport, ME on February 5, 1941 and grew up in Charlestown. Michael was a son of the late Arthur O’Connell and Katherine (Hennessy) Pulk. Michael was an electrician and a member of the Local 103 IBEW for 53 years.

Michael was an avid golfer. If you couldn’t find him on the golf course you could find him on the lake boating with his friends and family. Carole and he enjoyed taking numerous cruises, vacationing with their friends to places like Hawaii and various spots in Europe. However his greatest joy was spending quality time with his grandchildren, especially teaching them their way around the golf course.

In addition to his wife Carole, Michael is survived and will be deeply missed by his daughter, Nancy Sheridan and her husband Ed; his three grandchildren, Alexandra, Michael and Edmund and his wife Lisa; his two great-granddaughters, Emily and Elisa; his three sisters, Janie Chaffee and her husband Bobby, Katherine Tinker and Irene Raye; his two brothers-in-law, Dennis Gallagher and Donald Gallagher and his wife Charlene; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to Michael’s Life Celebration on Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 2 until 4 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. His funeral service will be celebrated immediately following at 4 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date in the John C. Shirley Memorial Cemetery, New Durham, NH.
