Lowell – Robert J. Lalonde, 67, a resident of Lowell, died Friday evening, October 21, 2011 at a local health care facility with his loving family by his side.
Born in Lowell on June 27, 1944, he was the son of the late Beatrice Y. (Langlais) Lalonde and Alfred J. Lalonde, Jr. of Lowell.
While still in high school and playing in a band, Bob discovered his passion was music, especially Jazz. He decided to pursue a career in music and became an accomplished saxophone player gaining the reputation of being one of the best in New England. He attended Berklee College of Music for 2 years, and played in several bands and groups over the years, Harvest being the last. He was well liked by his fellow musicians and all who knew him. Bob was especially loved by his family.
In addition to his musical career, Bob had been employed by Wang Laboratories, an office supply company, and Fed Ex.
In addition to his father he is survived by a son, Robert J. Lalonde, Jr. of Hudson, NH; a sister, Dorothy "Dot" Kaknes and her husband Paul of Lowell; two nieces, Stephanie Cotton and her husband Nick and Natalie Kaknes; a grandniece and grandnephew, Elyssa Cotton and Nathan Cotton.
