Robert Karlberg

Robert Karlberg, age 92, died Friday, Sept 28th. He was the husband of the late Claire (Bronzetti) Karlberg. Robert was born in Boston, Jan 7, 1926, son of the late Richard & Florence Karlberg. He was raised in Boston & later became a Tewksbury resident of 57 years.
He served in World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge and served with the Occupation Army from 1944 -1947. After World War II he was employed for 30 years by The Cement Finisher Union in Boston, Local 534. He was the Foreman on the job of today's City Hall at Boston's Government Center. He also worked on projects such as the Prudential Center, John Hancock Building, The Callahan and Sumner Tunnels, Logan Airport, The Massachusetts Turnpike Toll Road, etc. He also contributed in a large way with re-writing the by-laws and constitution of Local 534. He later worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific and after 20 years he retired from his second career.
He enjoyed family gatherings as well as the annual pig roast they had with family and friends every July 4th. Robert was a passionate Red Sox Fan and even traveled with his oldest son Ronald touring several baseball stadiums in the North East and to Cooperstown and also traveled to Alaska with his sons Randy and Bobby on two separate fishing trips, he also enjoyed a good game of Chess and Cribbage; which later became a daily event with his son Ronald.
He was a member of The United Church of Christ in Chelmsford for 40 years.

He is survived by three sons, two daughters & a daughter-in-law: Ronald & his wife, Maureen of Lowell, Robin Ricard of Rochester, NH, Robert ("Bobby"), Roseann & Ricky all of Tewksbury; 10 Grandchildren: Anthony & Jonathan Karlberg of S. Berwick, ME, Daniel Karlberg of Oslo, Norway, Jason Ricard & his wife, Heather of Rochester, NH, Tiffany McCue & her husband Dan of Tampa, Fl, Michelle West & her husband Larry of San Diego, CA; Erica Karlberg of Everett, MA, Crystal & Randy Karlberg of Rochester, NH & Michael Karlberg of Montpelier, VT and 12 Great Grandchildren. His sister Elana Poulis of Bellingham, MA & his brother Joseph of Maitland, FL as well as many nieces & nephews.
He was also the father of the late Randy Karlberg & grandfather of the late Jeremy Karlberg & Tonya Karlberg.
A private service will be held at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts.
