Pelham, NH – Robert C. Gordon, beloved husband of the late Kathryn (Murphy) Gordon, a resident of Pelham, NH, died unexpectedly on Saturday October 1, 2011. He was 90.
Robert was born in Boston on July 15, 1921, a son of the late Saul and Gertrude (Breault) Gordon.
Prior to his retirement he was employed as a communications specialist at the Hanscom Air Force Base.
Robert was a veteran of both WWII and Korea, having served in the Air Force. During WWII he was assigned to the 1330th Army Air Force Base Unit where he saw duty in China and Central Burma. Through the Korean War he attained the rank of Sergeant and served with the 47th Air Base Group.
He was a 32nd degree mason at the William Gardner lodge in Lowell. Robert also served with the Boy Scouts of America and was Scout Master of Troop 10 sponsored by St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Lowell.
He enjoyed fishing and was a collector of MG cars manufactured in Great Britain.
Survivors include a daughter Sandra Smith of Lyman, ME; a daughter in law Elaine Gordon of Pelham, NH with whom he made his home; six grandchildren, Tamara Wahl, Kathryn Hook, Nadine Manoian, Jenny Hook, Tracy Powell, Nicholas R. Gordon; five great grandchildren, Jake Manoian, Finesse Horton, Joseph Hook, Tyronne Powell, Tara Waters; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late William Spencer Gordon, and brother of the late Dorothy Jeter and William Gordon.
