He was born in Lowell on April 11, 1950, and was a son of Doris (Bowen) Bir of Lowell and the late Charles F. Bir. He received his education in Chelmsford schools and was a graduate of Chelmsford High School.
Rob’s passion in life was his work. Prior to his retirement he was employed for many years as a design engineer by Renaissance Electronics & Communications in Harvard. Earlier in his career he was employed by Harmonics in N. Andover.
When not working Rob could be found spending time in the company of his loving family or out on his boat on various local lakes and ponds fishing for bass and trout.
In addition to his wife and mother, Rob is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Steven C. and Cynthia (Abbot) Bir of Lee, NH; his granddaughter, Katelyn Walden and her husband Scott of Epping, NH; his two great granddaughters, Rosie and Nikita Walden; his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Susan (Anderson) Bir of Brevard, NC; his best friend of many years, William Cloutier; and several nieces and nephews. He will also be very missed by his dog Lexie his pretty girl.
It being his wish, there will be no services and burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rob’s memory to the High Pointe Hospice House at Tufts Medicine Care at Home, Attn: Community Engagement, 360 Merrimack St., Set 425, Lawrence, MA 01843 or at homehealthfoundation.org/donate/.
