Robert C. Iby

DRACUT - Robert C. Iby, 97, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother passed away on Friday, October 29, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Bob was the beloved husband of Jeanette (St. Gelais) Iby, with whom he celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary on the 4th of July, 2022.  

Bob was raised in Burlington, Vermont, son of the late Guy and Irene (Lepan) Iby and attended local schools, where he met Jeannette at Burlington High School.  After graduating, he joined the United States Air Force and trained for a bombardier on B-17’s and became a 2nd Lt. serving during World War II.

After corresponding for two years he and Jeanette were married and they moved to Lowell.   Bob worked at G.E. in the Lowell plant for 37 years as a Production Control Spec., then they moved to Dracut in 1967.  

He attended St. Michael’s Church in Lowell where he belonged to the St. Vincent de Paul Society and served as a Eucharistic Minister for years.  He was also a member of the Dracut Knights of Columbus, Arthur U. Joyal Council #4225.  

Robert and Jeanette enjoyed traveling.  He loved making model airplanes and puzzles.  

He is survived by his wife Jeanette, daughter Jill Guilbicki and her husband Chuck, son Jack Iby and his wife Melissa, daughter Robin Landsteiner and her husband William, son Robert F. Iby and his wife Wendy, and son Eric Iby and his wife Cheryl, a brother Wendell Iby and his wife Yvette, also predeceased by daughter Paula Iby.  There are 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren who will also miss him dearly.
