Lowell - Robert A. Berard, 69, loving husband of Theresa (Mercier) Berard, a Centralville resident, died Wednesday August 3, 2005 at the Lowell General Hospital.
He was born in Lowell on August 19, 1935, a son of the late Louis and Jeanne (Carrigan) Berard.
Mr. Berard had served in the US Navy Reserves for 13 years. He was a former communicant of St. Louis de France Church.
Mr. Berard was a firefighter for the city of Lowell, retiring in 1979 from Engine 6 located on West Sixth Street.
He was a member of the Lowell retired Firefighters Association, and the Lowell Lodge of Elks. He had also played in a cribbage league at the Lafayette Club in Lowell.
Surviving him besides his wife are a son, Robert G. Berard; three daughters and sons in law, Rachel and Michael Aubin, Michelle and James M. Jordan, Denise and Brian Hoey, all of Lowell; five brothers and three sisters in law, Raymond and Pauline Berard of Dracut, Andre and Sue Berard of Pelham, NH, Donald and Louise Berard of Methuen, Maurice Berard of Haverhill, Jean Berard and his compainion Lois of Nashua; four sisters and three brothers in law, Claire and Elphege Laurent of Lowell Jeannette and Donald Bedard of Lowell, Aline Laurent of Lawrence. Theresa and Maurice Sawyer of Lowell; a sister in law Vie Bedard of Lowell; a sister in law and brother in law, Gerard and Doris Bellerose of Lowell; five grandchildren, Phillip Aubin, James and Savannah Jordan, Brian and Tyler Hoey; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Emile Berard, Paul Berard, and Yvette Champagne, and brother in law of the late Roger Champagne and Albert Laurent.
